Where to start:

→ Grab an thermometer or Tempdrop. I don't recommend Apple Watch or other fitness trackers for FAM if you're trying to avoid. Here's my recommended thermometers and my Tempdrop discount (I am giving one away though FYI to one person who completes the challenge. There will be a survey at the end of the week to make sure you've done each of the challenges!).

→ Use an app that allows you to manually chart and turn off predictions: Read Your Body is my fave (another one of the prizes!).

→ Learn the actual rules. Not just vibes. If you're seriously wanting to avoid pregnancy, thoroughly learning a method of fertility awareness as soon as you can (you can start learning while you're on birth control) is your best course of action for efficacy. Self-teach with a manual or join Cycle Love.

Can you use FAM while still on birth control?

Charting while on the pill isn’t useful. Hbc suppresses ovulation and alters your cervical mucus, so the biomarkers we rely on in FAM won’t show up in a meaningful way.

What you can do now is learn the method, understand the rules, and make a plan for what you’ll use in your fertile window or while you transition to confidence with FAM once you’re off.

(Spoiler: a non-hormonal barrier method or perfect withdrawal is essential while you’re building confidence.)
