Reader -
I've played Catan many times in my life. But I’ve never really played Catan. I’ve been present for Catan.
Because every single time we played, Matt would win. Every. Goddamn. Time.
And I would do what I thought was the right thing, placing my little wooden house at the intersection of the best spread of resources and probabilities and somehow I'd still lose. And eventually I stopped caring.
This weekend we're at my in-laws. We'd just finished cooking a double batch of spinach lasagna and were eating peanut butter cookies. And something in me snapped. Enough was enough. I opened my laptop and googled: Catan strategy. Reader, I took notes.
We sat down for the match and I was no longer a woman who had shown up to Catan.
I was a woman who had prepared.
I got first pick for settlement placement. Which felt like the universe acknowledging my research. I didn't wait to buy development cards.
Then I built the longest road.
Then the largest army.
Then another settlement.
And suddenly I was sitting there looking at the board thinking wait.
It happened. Ten points.
I had won.
OH MY GOD.
All these years it felt impossible. Catan was a game that just happened to me. But the moment I stopped passively playing and actually learned, turns out, the game was fun to play.
If cervical mucus is another thing that is passively happening to you because you're not quite sure how to do it, I've got a really good cervical mucus strategy for you!
The mistake most people make with mucus is that they go hunting for more mucus:
- You stretch it because it doesn't look stringy enough.
- Or you go digging for mucus at the cervix because you're not noticing anything visible.
- If you feel or see nothing, you assume the important information must be hiding somewhere deeper.
But feeling secure around cervical mucus is just as much about recognizing when nothing is happening as it is about identifying your peak day.
Every cycle has a baseline: aka your pattern of infertility. It is the background state your cycle returns to when hormones are unchanging
When the baseline is clear, then the moment your body shifts away from that pattern, it stands out.
The change to peak becomes unmistakable because you know what “nothing happening” normally looks and feels like.
This is the foundation of what I teach inside Mindful Mucus Method (last week to save $50!). A pattern making approach means we begin by identifying your baseline and learn how to observe what you see + feel in a consistent way.
When you sign up you'll get:
- the one hour live Mindful Mucus Method training on March 24 (replay available)
- my pre-recorded Basic Infertile Pattern training dropped after the live
- a list of "look + feel" words
- the new three category system for charting your mucus
- guidance on where to check for mucus and what sensation actually is
Mindful Mucus Method is open, and in this round I'm teaching the overhauled curriculum with a simplified three category system designed to make these patterns easier to recognize.
